Ritual – VFX Short

Ritual is a short cinematic about an Egyptian ritual. It was created by students at Savannah College of Art and Design in a period of about 5 months. It involved over 48 people and was rendered using Pixar’s Renderman.

I was the Animation Lead on this project and my responsibilities included:

  • Working in the Vicon capture studio
  • Editing and cleaning motion capture data in Vicon Blade
  • Retargeting data onto custom rigs in MotionBuilder
  • Keyframing and manipulating data in MotionBuilder and Maya
  • Ensuring a stable workflow to reference animations into Maya
  • Assembling all animations into renderable maya scene
  • Some prop rigging
